LAREDO, Texas – Celebrate Laredo and take part in city-wide festivities this week by learning more about you and your family! A family-friendly adventure awaits as you discover your family tree.
To celebrate the 265th anniversary of the founding of Laredo, the Joe A. Guerra Laredo Public Library is featuring a 5-part webinar: Genealogy for Beginners – Using FamilySearch.org.
This weekly series begins Friday May 15; each session runs 30 minutes, starting at 3:30 pm.
Genealogy for Beginners is intended for those of us who have never looked into our family history and are unfamiliar with genealogy. Participants will learn how to identify types of documents, where to find credible sources, making a log, how to handle conflicting information and more. The webinars will be held via Zoom and participants do not need an account with Zoom to participate. Participants should plan to use a laptop, smartphone, or tablet to access the webinars.
FamilySearch.org is a free database linking to the world’s largest collection of records and resources for genealogy. If you’ve been hesitant to investigate your family’s history because genealogy seems intimidating, this is the best place to start your online research.
