(Laredo, Texas) – Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar today announced the appointment of Alan West Shipman as the new Sheriff’s Office pilot. Shipman started working for the Sheriff’s Office in mid-March and already has conducted several border security surveillance missions in the helicopter.
“I welcome Pilot Shipman to Webb County and to the Webb County Sheriff’s Office family,” said Sheriff Cuellar. “From the first time I met him, I knew that he would be the perfect fit for our office. He is determined and willing to learn and work.”
A native of Georgetown, Texas, Shipman brings a wealth of experience as a pilot.
Before graduating from flight school, Shipman worked for his family’s helicopter sales company and flight school. As a pilot, he has travelled on cross country trips all over the United States.
“I thank Sheriff Martin Cuellar for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to working with the Webb County Sheriff’s Office,” said Shipman. “I am ready to put to use everything I have learned while flying. This includes my first vivid memory of flying when I was four years old in a helicopter with a red nose we called Rudolph.”
