CBP Officers at Laredo Port of Entry Interdict Over $2.7M in Hard Narcotics in Three Seizures

LAREDO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) CBP officers at Laredo Port of Entry were successful in seizing three separate loads of hard narcotics with a combined value of over $2.7 million.

“Our frontline officers continued their strict vigilance this weekend and their determination and commitment to the border security mission resulted in three significant hard narcotics seizures totaling over $2.7 million,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.

 The most recent seizure occurred on Saturday, Feb. 1, when CBP officers at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge seized 129 pounds of alleged methamphetamine and 8.42 pounds of alleged heroin in 33 packages concealed within a 2019 Peugeot Partner Teepee minivan driven by a 25-year-old male Mexican citizen from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas.

A second seizure occurred on Friday, Jan. 31, when CBP officers at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge referred a 2008 Volkswagen Touareg driven by a 31-year-old female Mexican citizen from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. After conducting a canine and a non-intrusive imaging inspection, CBP officers discovered 46 pounds of alleged methamphetamine in 45 packages concealed within the vehicle.

On that same day, CBP officers at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge also seized 27.6 pounds of alleged cocaine and 2.5 grams of alleged methamphetamine in 20 packages hidden within a 2006 Lexus IS250 driven by a 32-year-old male citizen of the United States from Houston, Texas.

The seized narcotics have a combined estimated street value of $2,730,461.

CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicles. The drivers were arrested and the cases were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
