LAREDO, Texas—While many were enjoying their Thanksgiving holiday weekend, vandals had other ideas in mind. Vandal(s) were out spray-painting graffiti over the newly painted cement hills at North Central Park. Parks and Recreation maintenance crews discovered the graffiti cement hills early morning on Monday, December 2. Volunteers from the Return of the 100 Acre Woods tree planting and cleanup event held on Saturday, November 23, 2019, had just freshly painted the cement hills in an effort to help beautify the park.
City of Laredo Parks Director, JJ Gomez, is asking for the community to help in reporting these vandals. “I’m asking the community to help identify these vandals, if you know or have seen something, please report it to the Laredo Police Department,” said Gomez.
City of Laredo Police Sergeant Jose A. Perez from the City’s Park Police Division states, “Under Texas’s Laws, a Class B misdemeanor is punishable by up to 180 days in jail, or a monetary fine as much as $2000 or both.” Should you have any information on this act of vandalism, please call City of Laredo Police at (956) 795-2800.
