(Laredo, Texas)-Visiting author Dr. Norma Elia Cantu, author of Cabañuelas, address students who recently read her novel. Dr. Cantu provided an in-depth discussion of the novel and answered questions at the end of her presentation.
Her novel is the story of Cabañuelas Nena, who leaves Laredo,Texas for Madrid, Spain to research the historical roots of traditional fiestas in Laredo. She immerses herself into post-Franco Spain and its rich history while falling in love with a Spaniard gentleman who works in publishing. The outcome is a journey of self-discovery for the main character, who, through a variety of experiences, must decide how and where she can best be true to herself and her family.
