Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee for People with Disabilities Promotes Hiring Persons with Disabilities

LAREDO, Texas – The Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee for People with Disabilities (BRCPWD) has been working for over eight years to serve as advocates for those in our community with disabilities by promoting awareness, education and securing resources for their physiological, psychological and social well-being.
They also provide guidance and serve as consultants to City of Laredo officials regarding issues affecting people with disabilities. Creating more accessible parking, better educational opportunities for people with disabilities, improving policies and creating more awareness through sensitivity training are among their many accomplishments. A priority has been to work with the business community and to hire people with disabilities as they are like everyone else.
In fact, “People with disabilities are some of the most hardworking, dedicated and efficient employees” said Daniel Castillon, chair of the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee for People with Disabilities.
