Man Sentenced to 300 Days for Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend

(Laredo, Texas)-The District Attorney’s Office reports a guilty verdict for Alexander Brandon Lopez, 20, for a domestic violence assault.
On August 12, 2018, the Laredo Police Department Communications Division received a 911 call for service at a local hospital regarding an assault that had occurred earlier that night. Upon arrival, an LPD officer met with the victim who stated that her boyfriend, Alexander Brandon Lopez, had assaulted her. She stated that after leaving a nightclub and driving home, Lopez hit her on the face several times and pushed her out of his vehicle while the vehicle was in motion. The victim stated that once at the house, she noticed she would not stop bleeding from her left eyebrow and asked a friend to pick her up and take her to a local hospital to be treated. Once at the hospital, the nurse attending her called LPD to report the assault. The victim sustained injuries to the left and right side of her face, right elbow and knee.
Alexander Brandon Lopez was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury/family violence, a Class A Misdemeanor in the State of Texas. This offense is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $4,000.
On September 3, 2019, Alexander Brandon Lopez was found guilty of assault causing bodily injury/family violence. After a pre-sentence investigation was conducted, the court sentenced Lopez to 300 days to serve. Lopez will begin his sentence immediately at the Webb County Jail.
