Driving Responsibly with the U.S. Army

(Laredo, Texas)-Alexander High School, in partnership with the U.S. Army, offered a workshop for Junior and Senior students to help them understand the dangers of distracted driving or under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The activity included practical tests to show students how difficult it can be to be a good driver when one of the previously mentioned situations occurs. The students had the opportunity to drive a virtual car that reflected the circumstances of a drunk driver and a distracted one and challenged them to drive a passenger under these circumstances. Another activity consisted of wearing goggles that emulated the effects of Marijuana, Ecstasy, and alcohol on the user’s sight.
The members of the U.S. Army reminded students that they should not drive distracted, check their phones, and most importantly, under the influence of any toxic substance.
