LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers maintained their vigilance and intercepted multiple types of narcotics with a combined estimated street value exceeding $4.1 million in two separate enforcement operations over the weekend.

I congratulate our officers for their dedication which has prevented these dangerous narcotics from entering our country,” said (A) Port Director Eugene Crawford, Laredo Port of Entry. “These interceptions are a true example of the great men and women we have protecting our borders.”

The largest seizure took place on Friday, June 28 at the Gateway to the Americas International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2010 Dodge Caravan driven by a 21-year-old female United States citizen who resides in Atlanta, Georgia for a secondary inspection. Upon a canine and non-intrusive imaging inspection by CBP officers, a total of 93 packages containing 194 pounds of alleged crystal methamphetamine was discovered.

The other seizure took place on Saturday, June 29, also at the Gateway to the Americas International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2010 Ford pickup driven by a 48-year-old male Mexican citizen who resides in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas for a secondary inspection. CBP officers utilizing a non-intrusive imaging system and a canine, discovered a total of 12 packages containing 29 pounds of alleged cocaine within the vehicle.

The narcotics combined have an estimated street value of $4,124,172.

CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicles. The drivers were arrested and the cases were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
