US HIGHWAY 83 N. ROAD REHABILITATION PROJECT IN EFFECT

LAREDO, Tx – The Texas Department of Transportation has begun road rehabilitation work for a portion of US Highway 83 North through Webb and Dimmit counties, starting at the Webb/Dimmit County line due north to 3.4 miles south of State Highway (SH) 44. Anderson Columbia, Inc. will build this project at a cost of $48,720,860.00. Approximate duration of this project is 41 months with completion expected in the spring of 2022, weather permitting, Work started May 28, 2019.

At a point in time during this project, the US 83 N./State Highway 44 junction will be closed for a period of seven to 14 days to allow for the reconstruction with concrete pavement affecting State Highway 44 traffic ONLY from the east. US 83 North northbound and southbound traffic WILL NOT be affected by this closure. Motorists will be notified through the use of message boards at all thoroughfares approaching this junction. Official notification to the public throughout the project will be done through traffic alerts and social media posts, Facebook and Twitter.

Working days for the entire project will be Monday through Friday with exception to the US 83 N./State Highway 44 junction work to be conducted Monday through Sunday straight for two weeks approximately until completed.
