(Laredo, Texas)-The United Independent School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos is pleased to announce Kristina Chapa as the new Principal of Finley Elementary.

Ms. Chapa is a 25-year veteran with United ISD with an extensive background, both in the classroom and at the district and school administrative level.  She earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Education and a Master of Science in Generic Special Education from Texas A&M International University.

For the past five years, she has served as an Assistant Principal at Finley Elementary School.  Prior to that, she was a Diagnostician, a Principal, an Assistant Principal, a Special Education Teacher at Trautmann Elementary, and at Prada Elementary as a Bilingual Teacher for 11 years.

Ms. Chapa stated, “I would like to thank the Board of Trustees and our Superintendent, Mr. Roberto Santos for this opportunity.” She added, “I am deeply humbled and honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Finley team and look forward to another successful year of supporting teachers and students in their educational and professional endeavors.”

Ms. Chapa succeeds Mr. Joe Garza who has retired as School Principal from Finley Elementary.  Ms. Chapa will assume her newly appointed position in August 2019.
