(Laredo, Texas)-United South High School students reenacted the Renaissance by traveling through a flourishing time period of scholarship and values under the reign of King Henry VIII to Elizabeth I of England. The festival offered plenty of opportunities for fun and learning.
Teachers joined the students to recreate the era that created a cultural movement that stretched from the 14th to the 17th century. It is a time in human history that had a profound effect on art, literature, philosophy, fashion, religion, music, theater, and other aspects of culture.
The fair enabled students to connect the old world with the new with a unique learning experience based on a curriculum. Some of the activities included Shakespearean performances, art and poetry competitions, chess tournaments, golf, and the King and Queen’s coronation. The festival was coordinated by Club Sponsor world history teacher Leah Teniente and Fabiola Fernandez.
