Roosevelt National Elementary Honor Society Hosts Induction Ceremony

(Laredo, Texas)-The Franklin D. Roosevelt National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) held its annual induction ceremony October 26, 2017, in the school gym. The Society annually acquires fourth and fifth grade students, who merit selection for candidacy upon careful consideration of their good grades and the responsibility they have shown.

NEHS President, Maricruz Treviño emceed the ceremony, which was solemnized through the lighting of candles representing the four qualities held in high esteem by the society. Natalie Ornelas lit the candle and spoke of Scholarship, Ameli Cantu on that of Responsibility, Rolando Vitela on the topic of Service, and Marianna Camara on the subject of Leadership.

The Society was honored to have Mrs. Jessica C. Salazar, Principal of Los Obispos Middle School, as guest speaker. She engaged her audience by posing the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Her words encouraged students to believe that all their dreams can come true through hard work and perseverance.
The thirty new inductees then pledged to uphold the high purposes of NEHS and be true to the principles for which it stands. Principal, Ms. Sylvia A. Ruiz, presented certificates, and Vice-Principal, Mrs. Erika Elizondo, presented NEHS membership cards and pins. Other platform guest included NEHS Faculty Council, Francisco Sarabia and Sheila Alvarado, and NEHS Advisors, Rubi Maldonado, Angelica Salinas, and Carla Solis.

New NEHS members include: Gerardo Avila, Nickolas Cortez, Adriana Cruz, Cristian Cruz, Jennifer Cundapi, Valerie Delgado, Jazlin Galvan, Adlyh Garcia, Evier Garcia, Neyomi Garza, Andrew Guerra, Mia Ibarra, Keyla Lopez, Perla Lopez, Lucero Macias, Rubi Maldonado, Valeria Mauricio, Monica Miranda, Mia Mondragon, Jesus Montes, Aleymar Morales, Julio Navarro, Yarelee Ornelas, Marely Patlan, Gissel Reyes, Arit Rios, Maria Santos, Sofia Solis, Amanda Villegas, Samantha Zamabrano, Deigo Zamora.
