Prada Elementary NEHS Ceremony Recognizes Student Excellence

Courtesy Raul Leal,

(Laredo, Texas)-Prada Elementary School recently hosted a ceremony to induct 28 students (grades 4-5), into the campus’ third annual National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS). The guest speaker for this year’s ceremony was Prada’s NEHS President, 5th grade student Melanie Torres .

The highlight of the induction segment was when honorees recited the NEHS pledge with their proud parents looking on. Achieving NEHS recognition is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious honors that can be presented to an elementary school student.

The objective of the organization is to promote leadership and service as essential life skills. In doing so, it recognizes students who have excelled in five distinct categories: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship, and Character. Additionally, all honorees must maintain a minimum of 85 in the subject areas of Language Math, Science and Social Studies.

“NEHS enhances the excellent work that our elementary schools are doing to prepare the whole child and establish a strong foundation for the future”, said Prada Principal Raquel Alvarado.” I congratulate our students for their accomplishments. I also wish to give credit to our Prada parents for taking a proactive stance in the education of their children. In doing so, they play a key role in the personal and academic development of their children”, she concluded.
