TAMIU Hosts Technology Education Conference Friday

(Laredo, Texas)-Teachers, librarians and campus technologists will convene at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) for the Seventh Annual Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) LIB Tech Friday, Aug. 11, 2017.
Featured speakers, Janet Corder and Joan Gore, will present “The Power of You.”

The Conference is hosted by the TAMIU Office of Information Technology (OIT) Academic Technology Services and sponsored by TCEA, Smart Technologies, TAMIU, Books-A-Million, Laredo Independent School District and United Independent School District.
Dr. Patricia Abrego, TAMIU’s director of Academic Technology Services, is the TCEA Area 1 director.

Education consultants Corder and Gore specialize in technology integration, BYOD implementations, mobile learning device and utilizing technology for student engagement and achievement.
Their presentations incorporate fun, while taking the fear out of integrating technology across the curriculum, meeting the needs of the beginner to the most advanced user. The former classroom teachers understand the specific needs of educators.
The duo have written four books on technology, professional development and integration. They won the 2013 ISTE Making it Happen Award for Texas.
Program sessions will cover all grade levels and focus on topics such as utilizing YouTube and other websites as resources, using social media and apps, coding, incorporating Google Arts and Culture, and many more topics.
