(McAllen, TX) The City of McAllen has quickly responded to provide assistance to those Texas cities that have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey; so far, sending eight personnel to various communities to assist as needed.
The McAllen Fire Department has deployed a total of seven individuals to three different areas, including the Corpus Christi/Rockport area, as well as to Katy as part of the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force 11. Additionally, two other individuals were assigned to Houston as part of the Texas Water Rescue Task Force.
The McAllen Health & Code Enforcement Department has also deployed one person to assist with the regional Incident Management Team.
Additionally, the McAllen Public Works and Engineering Departments, Traffic Operations and McAllen Public Utilities are all pending deployment of several crews through the Rio Grande Valley Public Works Response Team to assist with utility and water system issues, as well as with traffic signal repair work.
“I am extremely proud of our City of McAllen employees who are ready to respond to a crisis and to assist their neighbors, whether that neighbor be right here in McAllen or whether that be somewhere else in this great state of Texas,” said McAllen City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E. “Aside from simply being the right thing to do, we understand that when we help our fellow Texans to recover and get back on their feet, the entire state benefits.”
