UNITED ISD’s FREE INCOME TAX PROGRAM TAKES TO THE ROAD

FIRST STOP IS STUDENT ACTIVITY COMPLEX, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4

(Laredo, Texas)-In an effort to reach more individuals in the community who are in need of preparing their income taxes, IRS-certified high school students from the United Independent School District will be offering their income tax preparation services to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on February 4 at the Student Activity Complex Auditorium located at 5208 Santa Claudia Lane. Individuals and families who earn $60,000 and under are encouraged to visit this convenient community location to have their income taxes prepared — all free of charge.

“Our students are eager and ready to help individuals and families who are in need of filing their tax returns,” said United ISD Income Tax Assistance Coordinator Angelica Sanchez. “They are familiar with doing a variety of returns, and people tell us they are very pleased with the work and professionalism of our students.”

At the community site, IRS certified students will be able to work with the following income tax documents: 

·         Form 1040 EZ

·         Form  1040 A (with Schedule 1, 2, 3, and EIC)

·         Form 1040  (with Schedule A, B,C,EZ, EIC, and R)

·         Form1040-V

·         Form 2441 (child and dependent care credit)

·         Form 8863 (education credits)

·         Form 8812 (additional child tax credit)

Taxpayers are reminded to bring the following items with them:

·         Valid driver’s license or photo I.D.

·         All W-2 forms; 1099 forms, if applicable

·         Social Security cards or individual taxpayer identification numbers for all family members; those who are filing jointly must bring their spouse.

·         Checking and/or savings account numbers (up to three accounts) for deposit of their refund directly to their account.

            All income tax returns are filed electronically once all information has been verified with the taxpayer at the site.

“All information is kept confidential and students conduct themselves in a professional manner. I believe taxpayers will be really impressed with the services they receive when they seek these free income tax preparation services,” added Sanchez.
