100 Students from Dr. Henry Cuellar Elementary Receive $100 Gift Certificates from Target

(Laredo, Texas)-One hundred students from Dr. Henry Cuellar Elementary enjoyed a special post-Christmas gift celebration at Target on San Dario Avenue.
Students from all grade levels at Cuellar Elementary were chosen to participate in a shopping spree to use a $100 gift card as they wished. Students were accompanied by 25 Laredo Police Department officers as part of the Heroes and Helpers Program.. In addition, more than 25 educators from Cuellar Elementary participated.
The $10,000 grant was possible by an application
submitted to Target by the school’s administration. The grant was then distributed to those one hundred students who received perfect attendance from August to December of 2016.
Melissa Shinn, Principal at Cuellar Elementary, states, “Our students are very grateful. This grant and the Heroes and Helpers Program is a great example for all students, showing the magnificent ways perfect attendance can be rewarded. I want to thank Target, the Laredo Police Department, and my teachers who took time out of their winter-break to facilitate this cause.”
