Centeno Elementary Conducts Second Annual “Hour of Code” Sessions for Students

(Laredo, Texas)-Computers are everywhere, but fewer schools teach computer science than 10 years ago. Centeno elementary school joined the mission to reverse this trend for a second year by participating in the Hour of Code, a program that introduces students to computer science. Over 100 major national sponsors have partnered to support this movement.
Approximately 734 students at Centeno Elementary School participated in this years’ event, which taught them about fundamental computing concepts, and how computers serve to elevate problem solving skills, creativity, and prepare for success in the 21st century . Special guest presenter for this years’ Hour of Code was Dr. Patricia Abrego, Director of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning at TAMIU.
