(Laredo, Texas)-Isidro “Chilo” Alaniz, District Attorney for Webb and Zapata County in South Texas was selected to receive the Administrators Award for Public Service by the Drug Enforcement Administration on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the DEA’s Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
The Administrator’s Award for Significant Contributions to Drug Law Enforcement is established to recognize exceptional contributions to DEA’s mission by high level officials of foreign or domestic governments. DEA selects recipients that contribute to furthering its effort and provide advisory services, or the allocation of human and/or material resources, which effectively aid DEA in the accomplishment of missions.
Alaniz was selected for his exceptional leadership, dedication, and accomplishments since he became the District Attorney for Webb & Zapata counties in 2009. His significant, long term and positive contributions in support of the DEA’s missions, objectives and initiatives go above and beyond his call of duty. Since taking office, Mr. Alaniz has provided trainings for all agents, purchased equipment, including undercover vehicles for special task force operations and built an exclusive shooting range for agents to hone their shooting skills. He also took a proactive approach by accepting federal initiated cases, something that had not been done in over 14 years. This has strengthened his relationships with different Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. His exemplary efforts personify his devotion to the critical mission of seeking justice and working diligently to deter and prevent crime in our communities. He has earned great respect within the law enforcement community and his selfless acts and personal commitment have made Isidro “Chilo” Alaniz an outstanding example of this deserving honor.
