Former City Council Member Esteban Rangel Falls Short in Recount

(Laredo, Texas)- Former Laredo City Council Member Esteban Rangel still came up short votes in today’s recount for the Webb County Commissioner Pct.1 race. Jesse Gonzalez a Captain at the Webb County Sheriff’s Department remains as Commissioner Elect for Pct.1. Gonzalez will take office in January 2017. The race was a highly contested race with five candidates running for the position. Esteban Rangel who left office as a City Council Member with two years left on his term to run for Commissioner ends up finishing second to Gonzalez by 46 votes. The run-off election between Gonzalez and Rangel took place on May 24th.
