United ISD To Host Golf Tournament

(Laredo, Texas)-Grab your golf clubs and get to the green because United ISD is preparing to tee-off at its first ever “Golf Tournament FORE Our Students.” The event will be held Saturday, September 26 at the Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course. Proceeds will directly benefit United ISD students, with funds going towards scholarships, as well as the District’s annual toy drive.
“A great many golf teams have already signed up, and we want to thank them in advance for supporting our students,” said United ISD Superintendent Roberto J. Santos.
The event, which is being coordinated through the United ISD Athletic Department, will be an adult tournament, three man scramble format. Tee-off is at 8:30 a.m. 1st , 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded.
United ISD Athletic Director, Bobby Cruz, says that event is sold-out with over 40 teams that have already signed up for the tournament.
“We’re going to have a great day of golf,” said Cruz. “We would like to thank our generous sponsors and our participants for making this an event to remember.”
Powell Watson motors is the official title sponsor for the tournament. They contributed over $15,000 to the cause. In addition to the $15,000 donation, they will be providing two hole-in-one opportunities for golfers to win a new car. One will be a 2015 Mercedes CLA and the other a 2015 Buick Enclave. Moore Jewelers will also sponsor a hole-in-one opportunity. The winner of that prize will receive a $5,000 shopping spree at their store. Door prizes provided by additional sponsors will be awarded.
Results of the tournament will be announced in the clubhouse at the conclusion of the event.
