Laredo, TX (Webb County) – A woman is behind bars after Webb County Sheriff Deputies found more than $100,000 worth of heroin in her possession Saturday night.
A deputy patrolling near the 300 block of Bob Bullock Loop in South Laredo pulled over a white Honda Accord driven by Biancca Veronica Gonzalez, 23. As authorities approached the vehicle, they noticed a strong smell of marijuana as Gonzalez lowered her window. Following verbal consent to search the vehicle, a Texas DPS K-9 that was called in to assist alerted authorities to the back of the passenger’s side. That’s where they found a green microfiber glove with a package inside.
The results of that package tested positive for close to 485 grams of heroin. The drugs have an estimated street value of approximately $102,000.
Gonzalez was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was taken to the Webb County Jail where she was released on a $100,000 bond.
“It appears to be that these seizures are becoming more frequent during these routine traffic stops,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “I applaud our deputy and our law enforcement partners’ thorough search in intercepting these drugs.”
