(Laredo, Texas)-The City of Laredo Health Department in conjunction with the Laredo Public Library is hosting an event to generate awareness and support for our local LGBTQ community and their loved ones. The goal of the event is to provide insight to the audience members on numerous topics regarding human sexuality especially in the following areas: spirituality, cultural and gender issues, coming out to family and loved ones, homophobia, and other relevant matters.
However, the main purpose of this gathering is to reach out to parents who are struggling to understand or accept their gay children. The scheduled speakers include a psychologist, a pastor, and a community member who will be sharing personal testimony on being a proud mother to a gay daughter. Counselors and other resources will be also be available. The event is scheduled on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at the City of Laredo Public Library at 1120 E. Calton Rd.
There is no charge to attend and everyone is invited. Refreshments will be provided. Please join us as we attempt to help our community move forward in setting a “foundation for love and understanding of Laredo’s LGBTQ community”.
