United South High School Celebrates 25 Years of Excellence

Laredo, Texas: United South High School, “Home of the Mighty Panthers,” recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of their campus. They invited former staff and faculty to join them at their homecoming pep rally and anniversary celebration that was held in the gym on October 30. The school also invited former principals, faculty and staff to the campus to be recognized at the event.
Former principals of the USHS campus were: Eduardo Perales, Dalia Trevino, Severita Sanchez, David del Toro, Roylin Wilson, and David Canales (Karen Winch also served as an interim principal at the campus). Current USHS Principal Adriana Ramirez introduced the special guests at the event.
United ISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos attended the celebration. The first principal of the campus, Eduardo Perales, spoke and talked about the importance of school pride. Principal Ramirez also took a moment to recognize the seven staff and faculty members who have been at USHS since its opening. These individuals are: Chris Sandoval, student activity coordinator; Sara Montemayor, Math teacher; Christine Baeza, Reading teacher; Juan Salazar, social studies teacher and coach; David Maciel, Agriculture Teacher; Bertha Nieto, registrar; and Bertha Costilla, LPAC clerk.
Principal Ramirez emphasized at the event the school will continue its tradition of excellence and that USHS faculty and staff will remain committed to the development of all student in the areas of academics achievement, social skills, community involvement and citizenship.
