United South Middle School Welcomes Veterans

(Laredo, Tx)-United South Middle School students gathered in the gym on November 14, 2014 along with around 50 military members for a ceremony that involved a formal welcome from Principal Roylin B. Wilson, presentation of colors by the United South High School ROTC Color Guard, performances by the USMS choir and band, and a speech by Col. Sara Phoenix, U.S. Marine Corps. Ms. Phoenix is also a Col. for the JROTC Program at United South High School. Each veteran received a framed copy of A Soldier’s Prayer by LTC Charles Robar at the conclusion of the program.
Upon arrival to the campus, all of the visting veterans were treated to a continental breakfast, then ushered into the gym where students welcomed them with rousing cheers and applause.
