(Laredo, Tx)-Andres Lara, also known as the Cuban Guy, is a highly esteemed motivational speaker who at 16 years of age left Cuba without his parents to come to the United States. Upon arrival he was homeless and had no money or English speaking skills, yet managed to become a millionaire by the time he reached his early 20’s. Over a short period of time, Lara became an internationally respected motivational speaker, author and CEO of his own company. UISD Trustee Pat Campos invited Lara
to share his principles of success and motivation with students at all four UISD high schools during the week of October 27. At the sessions, Lara told the story of how he succeeded in spite of all of his challenges, and how he was able to turn his life from living his worst nightmare (living on the streets), to living his dream. Campos had previously attended one of Lara’s presentations at an educational conference in San Antonio, Texas. “I was impressed by what Mr. Lara said and felt that our students would greatly benefit from his message, so I made arrrangements for him to speak at our high school campuses”, said Campos.
