Newman Elementary Students Pledge to Remain Drug-Free!

Courtesy Alex Meyer,

red ribbon(Laredo, Tx)-In recognition of Red Ribbon Week, Newman Elementary students renewed their vows to stay away from drugs by reciting a pledge before visiting judge Oscar R. Liendo. The pledge ceremony was followed by a parade around the perimeter of the campus, during which the students displayed their “say no to drugs” banners and signs. Students were led by teachers, faculty, staff, UISD Police and members of the District’s K-9 unit.

This year’s Red Ribbon Parade was held on October 27. Red Ribbon Week (October 20-28), is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country, and serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention, education, and a personal commitment to live drug free lives with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug free America.
