Laredo, TX (Webb County) – A man remained behind bars Wednesday morning after attempting to run over a young man not once, but twice.
The 19-year-old victim told Webb County Sheriff’s deputies that he was walking down Camino del Sur in Los Centenarios subdivision when he spotted a black Chevy Silverado following him. That’s when the victim says Refugio Rojas-Alvarado, 45, tried to hit him with his vehicle then sped off. A short time later, after Rojas-Alvarado reportedly dropped off his passenger, he spotted the victim and pressed on the gas accelerating to a higher rate of speed and once again attempted to run over the victim, forcing him off of the sidewalk and into nearby brush. The victim told authorities that this wasn’t his first run-in with the suspect.
Sheriff’s deputies were able to locate Rojas-Alvarado near his home and arrested him. He faces an aggravated assault charge, Felony 2. He remains without bond at the Webb County jail.
