DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Wichita Wingnuts OF Brent Clevlen(pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending August 3.
Clevelen began his week last week by starting in the American Association All-Star Game in Winnipeg, helping the South All-Stars defeat the North by a score of 7-0. Once the season picked back up on Wednesday, Clevelen put together an impressive 12-for-17 stretch in four games to close the week. After a 1-for-3 night on Thursday, Clevlen was 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored in a 12-5 Wingnuts win over the St. Paul Saints. A day later, Clevlen homered again in a 3-for-5 performance against the Saints, hitting a solo shot in the seventh inning. On Sunday, Clevlen closed the week by going 4-for-5 with a solo home run and a double against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in a 7-4 win.
The former Major Leaguer with the Detroit Tigers and Atlanta Braves is hitting .360 on the season with 26 doubles, three triples and 13 home runs with 58 RBI.
