United ISD Names Several Administrators to Director Posts

United Independent School District Superintendent Roberto J. Santos is pleased to announce that the following individuals have been named to various administrative positions within the District. These individuals and their positions were approved during a Special Called Meeting of the Board of Trustees held on July 16, at the Central Office Boardroom located at 201 Lindenwood Drive.
They are as follows:
· Cristina Casanova – Director of Student Assessment Program
· Judith M. Garcia – Director of Instructional Technology
· Elouisa Diaz – Director of Elementary Education
Casanova, who is currently a Testing Coordinator for the District, will oversee the planning, design and implementation of State and Federal assessments related to student achievement. Casanova has her Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Texas at San Antonio and her Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M International University.
Garcia, who is currently a Technology Coordinator with the District, will oversee the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of instructional technology to supplement and complement the District’s present instructional program. Garcia has her Bachelor’s degree from Laredo State University, and her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with a minor in Technology, from Texas A&M International University.
Diaz, who is currently a Principal at Barbara Fasken Elementary School, will work closely with Executive Director of Elementary Education, Cynthia Rodriguez, in directing and managing instructional programs for PK through 5th. Diaz has her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from our local university.
At this Special Called meeting, during executive session, it was announced that David Canales, currently the Executive Director for High School Education, will be moved to fill the vacancy left by David Gonzalez who was the Executive Director of Middle School Education before being named to his current position of Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Alexander High School Principal, Dolores W. Barrera, will now be the Executive Director of High School Education, leaving the Principal position at Alexander High School open. The District is currently looking to fill this position by a highly qualified candidate and the posting of the position can be found on the District’s website at www.uisd.net.
All individuals are expected to transition into their new positions and be ready for the school year which begins on August 25, 2014.
