Sheriff’s office seizes more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana

Laredo, TX (Webb County) – An investigation by the Webb County Sheriff’s Office has yielded more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana and has landed a local man in jail.
Working surveillance, deputies on Monday afternoon arrested Oscar Fernando Geronimo, 24, on the 2500 block of Market Street and charged him with possession of marijuana, felony 2.
The 1,205 pounds of marijuana, hidden in 19 bundles, has an estimated street value of $1.6 million.
Sheriff Martin Cuellar reminds the community to report any suspicious activity to Laredo Crimestoppers, and should a call lead to an arrest, the person may qualify for a monetary

“Monday’s hit shows the strong stand we are taking in ensuring that these drugs do not end up in the wrong hands,” Cuellar added. “As a community, we need to be pro-active; this is why I encourage the citizens to report any suspicious activities.”
