Laredo, TX (Webb County) – The Webb County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) tracked down the man accused of threatening prosecutors soon after a trial hearing.
On Friday July 25, 2014 Luis Alfredo Martinez attended his brother’s (Javier Francisco Azuara) court hearing in the 111th District Court. Shortly after the verdict was read in the courtroom, Martinez along with another relative of Azuara, began to act disorderly and shouted threats towards prosecutors. A criminal complaint that was filed yielded warrants for Martinez who now faces charges for Retaliation Felony 3 and Hindering Proceeding by Disorderly Conduct a Class A Misdemeanor.
Webb County Sheriff’s Investigators, with the assistance of Laredo Police Department Investigators and Webb County District Attorney’s Office, located Martinez at the Mall Del Norte parking lot. Martinez was arrested and transported to the Webb County Jail. The investigation is on-going, pending other arrests.
“I will not tolerate any threats made to any officials conducting court proceedings,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “If these individuals are doing this in our own courtrooms you can only imagine what they may be capable of doing out in our community.”
