Vehicle Pursuit leads to drug seizure and arrests

Laredo, TX (Webb County) – Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man and his wife with close to $400,000 worth of marijuana.
Tuesday night, deputies attempted to stop a black Ford Expedition on IH-35 near Mann Road on a traffic violation. The driver ignored the light and sirens and continued driving, traveling south on San Bernardo and leading authorities on a short pursuit before coming to a stop on a business parking lot in the 1800 block of W. Mann Road. Three suspects exited the vehicle and swam back to Mexico.
More than to 288 pounds of marijuana wrapped in 4 large bundles were found in the Explorer. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $383,000.
During a follow up investigation, deputies found one of the suspects, Petra Reyes-Gonzalez, 28, in the 200 block of Flathead Drive. She was arrested and charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Possession of Marijuana. Her husband, Jose Alonzo Trevino, 27, was also charged with Possession of Marijuana, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Reckless Driving, Evading with a Motor Vehicle and Evading on Foot, after he called police saying his wife had been kidnapped. Trevino and Reyes-Gonzalez remained behind bars at the Webb County on Wednesday with no bond.
