Emergency Telecommunicators or 9-1-1 operators are always on the line waiting to take a call in an emergency, a service available to everyone at any time of the day or night. It takes a
sound operation with good management to keep this vital public service operating at a consistent level. These operations are referred to as Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in
industry lingo and they have a system of operators and management that together with the 9-1-1 Regional Administrator makes this valuable service work for all areas.
As the 9-1-1 Regional Administrator for the area, the City of Laredo recognized the personnel from the PSAPs locally and the region at this special ceremony. The event also highlighted
the Telecommunicator of the Year.
