(Laredo, Tx) Congressman Cuellar joined United Independent School District at Alexander High School to announce that Student Eduardo “Wayo” Salinas has been nominated by his office and has been accepted to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. 

Congressman Cuellar provides service academy nominations, which is part of the military academies’ application process. To earn a nomination, students participate in a lengthy review process that evaluates their academic history, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, and personal essays. “Acceptance into our nation’s service academies is competitive, and I take the responsibility of nominating students very seriously,” said Congressman Cuellar.  He added, “ I only send those I consider the best and brightest.”

 Salinas, Alexander High School Senior will report July 1^st to the Naval academy to initiate his training.  “It is a big honor to have Congressman Cuellar, here and to sign my offer of appointment to the Naval Academy.  He added, “ I’m really excited to represent my City, school and district in Annapolis.” Wayo made history in Laredo, Texas, as he became the first student to be appointed to this prestigious honor.
