COURTESY LARRY SANCHEZ,
(LAREDO, TX)-Judges Alvino “Ben” Morales and Jesus “Chuy” Garza along with Webb County Attorney Marco Montemayor will be announcing a new Juvenile Drug Court Program for the children of Webb County.
The new program will work diligently with the youth to help fight drug addiction through several programs, including drug counseling programs and intensive monitoring. Participants will be required to meet certain criteria before they enter the program and are to remain drug and alcohol-free before they graduate from the program.
“We continue to implement new programs to help the youth in our community…it’s imperative that we intervene early and break the cycle of addiction of our youth” said Judge Morales. The program will judicially supervise these non-violent offenders in hopes that these young people become productive citizens in our society. The Drug Court program holds the youth offender and the parent accountable for their actions. The participants are sanctioned if they are not in compliance with the program’s criteria and are rewarded if they are in compliance.
Judge Garza said, “It’s a win-win situation for the parent, the child and the community when we all work towards rehabilitation of our youth.”
The announcement will take place Friday, December 13 at 1:30 pm at the Webb County Justice Center County Court at Law #2 located at 1110 Victoria Street Suite 404.
