(Laredo, Tx)-The City of Laredo is proud to announce its plans to enhance traffic mobility in the southern sector of Laredo with the groundbreaking of the Cielito Lindo Extension project, extending the roadway from Ejido Avenue to Bob Bullock Loop 20. This will provide an alternative north/south route for both the local and regional community in South Laredo andwill further provide smoother traffic flow on both Ejido and Highway 83. An added benefit of the project will be the potential for further commercial and residential developmentalong the roadway.
The project will consist of a 64 foot-wide, four-lane roadway, 2,730.42 linear feet, with pavement, earthwork, drainage, curb and gutter, inlets and flums for storm drainage, a traffic signal at Ejido, and traffic signs. The total cost for this project will be $1,904,233.18 and is funded through federal, funding, including Cross Border Infrastructure-CBI); state funding through the Texas Department of Transportation; and a local match, as well.

“The most important benefit that I am so excited to see is the relief it will give to the people who live and have to struggle with the congestion along the Highway 83 South corridor. The Cielito Lindo extension will relieve the traffic and congestion that thousands of people deal with on a daily basis. The promises we made to them are going to come to fruition,” Cm.
