dCourtesy Javier Cortez,

El Paso, TX- In a game with many twist and turns, the Diablos come out on top over the Laredo Lemurs, as they take game one of their three game series 9-7, in thrilling fashion.

The Diablos got off to a great start, taking a 3-0 lead over the Lemurs through the first three innings, as the Diablos had complete control of the game. Then in the fourth inning the Lemurs erupted for the six runs to take a short lived lead, as the Diablos tied the game at 6-6 going into the fifth inning.

With a tie going into the second half of the game, both teams were looking for any opportunity to strike. First it was the Lemurs who took a 7-6 lead going into the sixth inning, but the Diablos stayed the course and scored one run in the next three innings, as they sealed up game one in their favor.

There were three key contributors tonight for the Diablos, as they played a big part offensively in tonight’s win; catcher Juan Apodaca, designated hitter Sergio Burrel, and first baseman Jonathan Cisneros, as they all contributed with two RBIs each.

The Diablos are now 31-51 this season and 8-2 in their last 10 games, the Diablos have two more games against Laredo in their three game series, game two starts at 7:05, here at Cohen Stadium tomorrow night!
