LPD Auto Theft Division Rounds up 5 in Car Thefts and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity

(Laredo, Tx)- This morning the Laredo Police Auto Theft Unit with the help of the Patrol Division served multiple warrants in west, central and south Laredo. All auto theft suspects were arrested without incident. The group of individuals arrested was responsible for stealing Ford F250’s from different parts along the IH-35 corridor including the mall.
The patterns of thefts began to take place since May. The LPD auto theft task force began an intense investigation with multiple undercover operations and surveillances. The thefts of Ford F-250s became more and more apparent as the summer began. Since May there been a total of 15 stolen F-2-50s that have been attributed to the suspects arrested today.
After several weeks of intense investigations the 5 men arrested today were responsible for either directly stealing of the Ford trucks or having some involvement in the criminal operation. All of the vehicles were taken into Mexico. The investigation continues and more arrests will come. The arrestees belong to different groups of dedicated car thieves.
