Lemurs Offense Backs Rookie Starter for Win

Laredo, TX – The Laredo Lemurs (26-20) posted six runs in the eighth to secure an 11-2 win over the Newark Bears (14-28) in their first ever meeting on Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
The Lemurs half of the eighth started with a Garrett Buechele base hit, followed up by a Jimmy Mojica fielder’s choice to erase Buechele at second. Harrison Kain would come up next and single to put runners at first and second for the Lemurs. Sawyer Carroll would hit next, earning a walk to load the bases. John Alonso took his turn and singled to drive in Mojica and Kain to put the Lemurs up 7-2. The inning would continue with Palmer Karr turning on a pitch and driving the ball over the wall in left for a three run homer giving the Lemurs a 10-2 lead. The Lemurs would score one more in the inning to make it an 11-2 lead.
Hot hitting Lemurs included, Jimmy Mojica picking up two doubles on the night, Harrison Kain grabbed three singles in six at-bats, John Alonso pitched in with two hits and three RBI, and Palmer Karr had a homer, with a double and four RBI’s.
Lemurs rookie starter Michael Suk (1-0) picked up the win in his first start of the season. He went six and a third, giving two runs, on 10 hits, with one walk, and two strikeouts.
Bears starter Brian Parker (1-1) took the loss, going three, giving up four runs, on seven hits, with one walk.
The Lemurs are on their longest home stand of the season with the Newark Bears, El Paso Diablos, and St. Paul Saints all coming to town through July 17th.
