Teens in the Driver Seat Club receives state recognition

(Laredo, Tx)-The Teens in the Driver Seat Organization of the Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts received honors in their efforts to prevent auto mishaps involving teenagers. The VMT organization was recognized for its contribution for raising awareness of safe teen driving by the Texas Teens in the Driver Seat Organization during the annual awards ceremony held at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
The VMT Teens in the Driver Seat program was recognized as one of the top program in the state for their creativity and effectiveness in activities for creating awareness and were awarded the TDS Cup and a $1,000 check and awarded for the Superior Deployment of Teens in the Driver Seat for the 2012-2013 school year.
The Trevino Magnet School program once again had two students chosen to the newly appointed 2013-14 TDS Teen Advisory Board. Julio Reyes and Alejandra Valdez were selected as new members of the TDS state board. Tony Bondoc and Amanda Castaneda were also recognized for their appointment to the 2012-13 TDS Teen Advisory Board.
Highlighted were three activities that the VMT program conducted in Laredo last year which included the VMT Mercurio Martinez, IV 5K Run, and both radio and television public service announcements prepared, acted in, and edited by the VMT Communications classes.
