(Laredo, Tx)-On Friday April 26, 2013 police were dispatched to 1802 Lafayette (LafayetteSkatePark) for a graffiti report. The City of Laredo Parks & Recreation supervisor stated that someone sprayed graffiti on the skate ramps with red colored spray paint. The supervisor added that incident had happened sometime overnight. The estimated value of cleaning and repainting of the graffiti was worth approximately $1,000.00. The case was then investigated by the Juvenile Enforcement Team (J.E.T.) Detectives.
Through the course of the investigation it was discovered that the juveniles were caught on a park surveillance footage committing the vandalism to park property. Detectives provided captured images of the footage to LPD’s Park Police in order to assist in the identification of the suspects. LPD Park Police Officers interviewed several teens that matched the description of the suspects on the video. Investigators eventually came up with enough proof to charge 3 teens, both a 15 and 16 year old males along with a 14 year old female, and detained them on charges of Graffiti C/A. More arrests maybe pending in this case but for now these are the main suspects involved. J.E.T. Investigators found that these juveniles belonged to a Skating/Tagging Crew. These arrests were possible due to the collaborative efforts of J.E.T. and LPD Park Police.
