LISD Elementary Honor Choir Concert

(Laredo, Tx)- LISD Fine Arts Department is showcasing the musical talents of its elementary honor choir during the district’s annual spring concert. The Spring Honor Choir Concert Program is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the Laredo Civic Center.  The Spring Concert “Sing and Be a Star!” will highlight the talents of district’s youngest musicians from all 20 elementary campuses. The youngsters will perform a variety of musical pieces including “Over the Rainbow,” “Hakuna Matata,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

 According to LISD Fine Arts Director, Carlos Luna the young students have been rehearsing on a daily basis. “The students have been working hard all year to prepare for this special concert,” said Luna. “The students sound amazing and the community is in for a great show.”

 As part of the spring concert students of Tarver Elementary will perform their highly popular production of Seussucal Jr. based on the works of Dr. Seuss. The concert will also honor Mrs. Linda Theret, LISD Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, who is retiring after dedicating over 25 years to educatingchildren throughout Texas.

“The concert is about the students. We need nurture their talents,” said Luna.  “We need to continue to encourage and foster the musical talents of our students.”

admission to the concert is free.
