Money and Eight Liner Machines Confiscated from Magin Spin on Calton Two Arrested

(Laredo, Tx)-On April 4th, Crimes Against Property Investigators executed two search and arrest warrants at two eightliner establishments. At the Magic Spin located at 504 E. Calton Rd. Leticia Esquivel, and Alejandra Lopez, were arrested and charged with Gambling Promotion a misdemeanor. In addition, 84 motherboards and $21,600 in currency was seized.
At approximately the same time, CAPROS Investigators also executed a search warrant at 602 South US 83 Suite 8, at the Silver Nugget. A total of 119 motherboards and $11,155 in currency was seized at this location. Both cases are still under investigation and more arrests are possible. The cases were a result of a multi-week investigation where undercover police officers were paid on numerous occasions in cash which is against state law. The state law dictates that these establishments cannot pay out in cash in any amount and they can only hand out prizes worth no more than $5 in value.
