On Friday April 12, 2013 at 12656 Mines Road an LPD patrol officer assigned to the K-9 division pulls over a white box trailer for making a sudden right hand turn without using a signal light. The officer noted two men in the truck and when he questioned them separately they had inconsistent stories relating to the contents and the destination of the trailer. The officer then ran the K-9 and there was an indication of narcotics in the trailer.
The officer now had probable cause to search the trailer and proceeded to detain the two men. When the truck was opened the discovery of several bundles of Marijuana was made. The total weight of the load was approximately 2,500 pounds of Marijuana with an estimated street value of about $1,000,000.00. The two men and the case were referred over to the Drug Enforcement Agency who will continue to investigate this case.
