17th Annual Western Hemispheric Trade Conference Opens Today

(Laredo, Tx)-Universities from through Mexico, China and others will join Texas A&M International University’s A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business and the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade for the 17th presentation of the Annual Western Hemispheric Trade Conference April 10-12 at TAMIU.

The Conference theme is “Western Hemisphere Meets Eastern Hemisphere: Trade, Investment and Development Opportunities.”  It takes place on the TAMIU campus, primarily in the Student Center.

It is presented in partnership with  Mexico’s Universidad Regiomontana, Escuela de Negocios and the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, FCACS and China’s University of International Business and Economics and Wuhan University and the Americas Society-Council of the Americas of Washington, D.C.

Concurrent academic sessions and panel presentations will be offered along with guest keynote speakers. (A Full Conference Agenda is Attached).

Among the spectrum of topics being explored are  “East, West and the U.S.: Economic and Demographic Implications of Migration,”  “China’s Economic Imperative:  Demographics and the End of Cheap Labor,” “Effects of Corruption and Terrorism on Business,” and “Finance and the Real Economy:  How Changes in the Financial Environment Affect Global Growth,” among many others.

The Conference is lead by Dr.Tagi Sagafi-nejad, A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Radcliffe Killam Distinguished Professor of International Business and director, Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade and director, International Trade Institute.
