The United Independent School District formally unveiled four specially commissioned stained glass windows this morning at the Bill Johnson Student Activity Complex Auditorium located at 5208 Santa Claudia Lane .  The project was done in cooperation with the Fernando A. Salinas Trust and UISD Board Trustee Javier Montemayor, Jr.   It was the Trust that sponsored a student art contest in honor of the District’s 50th Anniversary in 2011, where the four winning entries were turned into beautiful stained glass windows.  The student winners of the contest were:  Alexandria Ruiz, Paola Morales, Yulissa Ibarra, and Lucia Lerma.  The windows also honor educator and attorney-at-law Javier Montemayor, Sr. who is the father of Trustee Montemayor, Jr. The windows depict the UISD 50th Anniversary logo and a representation of education at the elementary, middle and high school levels, with Montemayor Sr.’s name etched at the bottom of each display.  They will be forever showcased at the District facility.  The Montemayor family was also present at the unveiling ceremony.
