Bonnie Garcia Elementary School was the site for “planting” the importance of “education” and “community” at a tree planting event held at the campus today. The donation of 10 ft. oak trees was made possible by Youth Leadership Laredo high school representatives and Texas A&M International University’s L.E.A.D. (Leaders Empowering Active Deeds) students. Pictured planting the trees in the school’s courtyard are from left to right: UISD Board member Ramiro Veliz, III, students Jerilyn Morteo, Lesly Vasquez, Selikka Flores, School Principal Clare G. Flores, students Emily Felipe, Lorraine Rosales, and Luis Parral. The students pictured are in Ms. Claudia E. Terrazas 3rd grade class. The school would like to thank the high school and university students for donating the trees to the campus and for their motivational message of doing well in school and giving back to the community.
