OTO RECAP: Aeromexico Airlines Arrives in Laredo with Inaugural Flight

(Laredo, Tx)-City of Laredo officials and administrators were on hand to welcome the inaugural Aeromexico Airlines flight from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Laredo, Texas, U.S.A.  The first flight leaving Laredo to Monterrey immediately followed.  Thus began daily service between the two cities, called “Sister Cities” by Jaime Bernal, director for international airports for Aeromexico Airlines.

 The City of Laredo and the Laredo International Airport proudly welcomed the first Aeromexico Airlines flight from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Laredo, Texas, U.S.A.  The Embraer 145 Regional Jet aircraft, with a capacity of 50 passengers, the same aircraft used by United and American Airlines to service Laredo, departed from Monterrey at 4:35 p.m.  The first Aeromexico flight to Monterrey departed the Laredo International Airport at 6:35 p.m.

Flight time is expected to be less than 30 minutes.

 Mayor Raul G. Salinas and the Laredo City Council made a commitment to work tirelessly to bring air service to Mexico for the citizens of Laredo andthe business community.  “The community has wanted this service, a direct flight with our friends in Monterrey, Mexico, for both business and pleasure and we are proud to welcome this flight into Laredo and look forward to the daily flights leaving Laredo, thanks to our friends at Aeromexico Airlines,” stated Mayor Salinas.

 The City of Laredo and Aeromexico had been in negotiations for more than a year.  An incentive package was recently approved by the City Council which closed the deal for this direct service. 

 These daily flights will allow for excellent connectivity to numerous destinations throughout Mexico, including Guadalajara, Mexico City, Queretaro and Puebla.  Passengers can book flights on www.aeromexico.com.  Round trip to Monterrey, Mexico City, or Guadalajara is $458 including taxes and fees. The

Aeromexico frequent flyer/discount program, Aeropass, has rates at $305 to Monterrey, $405 to Mexico City and Guadalajara.
